Hi, I'm Steff, the founder and heart behind Alluring Gem Bellydancing.
With over 15 years of belly dancing under my hip scarf, I’ve created a space in Mount Gambier where women of all ages and life stages feel welcome, seen, and celebrated!
My path to becoming a teacher wasn’t exactly planned. I hadn’t danced before and didn’t see myself as particularly confident, but when a friend encouraged me to try belly dance, something in me said “yes!”.
In the beginning, I stayed quietly in the back of the room, unsure of myself and struggling with coordination. I nearly gave up. But with time, I started to feel more at ease… and even began looking forward to class each week.
As my confidence and coordination grew, so did my love for the dance. I found myself practising at home just because it felt good, in a way that’s hard to describe unless you’ve felt it yourself.
Eighteen months later, I surprised myself by performing a solo. Not long after, I stepped into a teaching role. It’s been a winding, beautiful journey and I’m so grateful to now guide others on their own.

When I’m not dancing...
I was raised right here in Mount Gambier and when I’m not teaching belly dance choreography, I work as a carer supporting some of the most vulnerable in our community. I’m a mum of three and grandma to two gorgeous little ones (they call me “curly hair Gran” which I secretly love)
Outside of work and family, you’ll usually find me pottering in the garden, venturing out on hikes, sipping tea, or deep diving into herbal remedies and all things curly hair care.
